This week on the blog were featuring Amanda.
Amanda is the newest stylist to join us, but she is not new to the industry. Amanda was my client for years. This girl put me through the ringer. One day she would be blonde and then she would come into the salon with red hair and ask to be blonde again?! I may have banged my head against the wall a couple times with her lol. Amanda has wanted to be a hairdresser since I met her about 10 years ago. She's the most precise and articulate person. She wants to make sure everyone is happy, and she goes above and beyond for all of her clients. Amanda is quiet and doubts herself way too easily. Since she has started with me, I have slowly seen her come out of her shell, and it is seriously amazing to see her confidence grow.
It is SO important to keep the energy and vibe of my team in check. One person can throw the entire vibe off. I have to reavulate this all the time. In fact, I am currently evaluating this now. The minute someone is throwing the energy of Salon Muse off, is the minute something needs to change. I am very particular about who gets to enter our close knit team. There is not a thing i wouldn't do for my girls. These girls are my second family. We are all together more than we are with our own family. Keeping the vibe is 100%. You could be a killer stylist, have a huge IG following, but if you don't vibe with us it wouldn't work.
Watching Amanda grow is a privilege after all if your stagnant your dying.
"The confidence I've seen change in Amanda since she started with us just two months ago is insane" -Kelsey
My name is Amanda and I’ve been doing hair for about 2 and a half years now. When I was younger, I always wanted to be some sort of counsellor. I wanted to help people feel better and make a difference in their life. I realized I could still do that with hair. I love being able to just lend an ear and help people enjoy a couple hours out of their busy life to relax and enjoy treating themselves. I got my hair professionally done for the first time when I was 16 by Kelsey! I loved the experience of being in the salon from sitting and chatting while I got my hair done to the hair wash and styling. I love changing things up and Kelsey always nailed it for me with whatever crazy request I had. I could see she enjoyed what she did and how she ran the salon and the whole atmosphere of being in the salon and I knew it was for me. I’m so glad that three years down the road has brought me to work for her in her new salon. If I could give any new stylist a piece of advice, it would be to work in a salon that you like. I mean enjoy working at and enjoy working with your team. This industry is so big, so there is no reason to settle for a place that doesn’t help you grow and support you. You should work for someone who cares about your success. Not someone who just wants you to get people in and out of your chair while underpaying you. I have already learned so much from Kelsey and the rest of the girls and I love that I love coming to work here. This is how it should be
